Rapides Regional Medical Center
Alexandria, LA
Moore Planning Group, LLC (MPG), developed, and continues to implement, an overall campus Master Plan for the Rapides Regional Medical Center, located in Alexandria, LA. This hospital is the largest healthcare facility serving central Louisiana, and has several support facilities which make up the entire campus.
The support facilities spread out over several city blocks, and thus needed unifying elements. To accomplish the unification goal, MPG’s plan featured pedestrian walkways, outdoor plazas, fountains, parking areas, fitness trails, lush landscaping, and interior plantings. These features not only work together to allow the complex to read as one facility, they also provide downtown Alexandria with an aesthetically pleasing addition.
MPG continues to work closely with Rapides Regional Medical Center on several on-going projects. Future plans call for construction of an urban parking mall between several existing facilities to link the hospital with Interstate 49.
The hospital’s unique design process perspective allowed MPG to participate in early design decisions. This early entrance into the design process enabled Moore Planning Group to work closely with engineers, architects, interior designers, and other related disciplines to create a cohesive plan that unites the structure with the environment.
