The Weems Residence is a traditional Southern style home set amid cypress, magnolia, and elm trees that grace the banks of a picturesque bayou. When Moore Planning Group, LLC. (MPG) undertook the design of a comprehensive Master Plan for this site, they faced several unique challenges.

The design goal was to capture the comfortable and elegant style of the owners utilizing the natural beauty of a property graced with mature cypress, magnolia, and elm trees, while still paying respect to the home's traditional Southern style. The property's unique location presented a second challenge. Situated at the intersection of five well-traveled streets, the lot was subject to off-site problems such as headlight glare, automobile noise, and street accessibility. The property is also a vital drainage link to the bayou for the entire block, a critical design factor that needed to be resolved.

Working in conjunction with the owner, an interior designer, Moore Planning Group created a plan which harmonized the interior with the exterior beauty of the residence. Specific details in the master plan included a private drive, guest circular drive, guest parking, an entry walk, a courtyard pool, a private master bath courtyard, and a sunroom courtyard. The design of a private drive for overflow when entertaining, as well as a circular driveway and guest parking alleviated the property's traffic difficulties.

“Moonlighting” within the existing trees not only added to the property's aesthetic quality, but also created an extra security dimension. With the landscape maintenance package developed by Moore Planning Group, the entire property continues to grow in reflective elegance.
