Southern Trace Country Club and Residential Community features an 18-hole championship golf course with adjacent developments of single-family home sites, referred to as “villages,” ranging from half-acre garden homes to home sites of one and one-half acres. This 513-acre planned residential community and country club lies within the secluded, heavily wooded, hilly area of southwest Shreveport, Louisiana. The centerpiece of this golf course community is the Southern Trace clubhouse, with an adjacent recreation complex and parkway.
Moore Planning Group, LLC (MPG) assisted the developer with the preparation of an overall conceptual Master Plan, graphics for marketing, and construction budget estimates. A favorable response to these plans quickly expanded the firm’s role. MPG then developed a Master Plan that included site planning, detailed design plans for the clubhouse, entry, recreational complex, major roads, and parking.
The developer’s request for sound environmental planning and preservation of existing site features was solidly integrated into the project planning, from the conceptual plans throughout final construction development. MPG later provided construction documents for all pools, fountains, tennis courts, fencing, decks, lighting, signage, landscaping, and irrigation, plus coordinated consultants on specialized project features.
The golf course, each residential village, and other significant built features are all characterized by nearby site features. Moore Planning Group continues to provide graphics for marketing, site management consultation, and revegetation planning services for existing open spaces.
The collaborative effort between professional planners and the developer to create quality of life improvements proved to be the key to successful completion of this development project.
