Caney Creek State Park, located in Jackson Parish near Jonesboro, Louisiana, is a 207-acre peninsula in Caney Lake. In the fall of 1991, the park awarded Moore Planning Group, LLC (MPG), a contract to prepare a Master Plan and construction documents.

Areas that required important planning consideration included an entrance facility, manager’s residence, maintenance area, day-use area, future day-use area, overnight-use area, and future overnight-use area. Within these areas, park officials wanted to develop activities such as picnicking, primitive camping, overnight camping, hiking, swimming, and fishing, along with support facilities such as boat launches, picnic tables, pavilions, restrooms, comfort stations, a bath house, beach, pier, playground, trails, and overnight trailer camping spurs.

Once work finished, Caney Street State Park quickly earned its reputation as a first-class regional recreation area, and one which allows visitors the opportunity to experience all the outdoor activities located within in the beauty of north Louisiana.
