Patrick Moore Named CABL Treasurer

BATON ROUGE – The Council for A Better Louisiana (CABL) has named Alexandria businessman Patrick Moore as Treasurer for 2010. He will serve on CABL’s Board of Directors along with a slate of officers from across Louisiana steering the organization in its 48th year of operation.

“I am honored to serve as an officer with an organization that’s so effective when it comes to pushing positive change for our state,” Moore said. “Louisiana faces a year of tough decisions when it comes to education, jobs, health care, government spending and more, and I look forward to representing Central Louisiana in CABL’s efforts in these matters.”

Moore, co-owner of Moore Planning Group, LLC (MPG), has led the firm as Managing Principal since 1982. He has guided projects of varied scope, ranging from land use / enhancement planning for entire regions, to design of small urban parks. Moore is a 1979 graduate of Louisiana State University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture. He has served as guest lecturer at colleges, universities, and professional organizations throughout the United States. His involvement in the issues of professional practice has led to the authorship of articles in various publications. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Old State Capitol Foundation, Louisiana Trooper Foundation, Foundation for the Mid South, Capital One Bank Central Louisiana, and has held several positions with the American Society of Landscape Architects. Locally, he is an active member of the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Alexandria, the Central Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Rapides Child Advocacy Center and the Boy Scouts of America – Troop 6 – Attakapas Council.

Other officers on the 2010 CABL Board of Directors are Chairman Robert W. Levy, District Attorney for the Third Judicial District for Lincoln and Union Parishes; Chairman-Elect Gregory N. Rattler, Sr. of New Orleans, First Vice President of the Government and Nonprofit Banking Group of J.P. Morgan Chase Bank; and Secretary Alice Pecoraro of Morgan City, who recently retired from Nicholls State University. William Hines, Managing Partner with the Jones Walker Law Firm in New Orleans is the Immediate Past Chairman.

Others elected to new or additional terms include: Dr. Ray Authement, former President of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Dr. Daryl Burckel, who heads the Accounting Finance and Economics Department at McNeese State University; Attorney Neil Erwin of Shreveport; Business Council of New Orleans Managing Director Robert W. Brown; David Conroy, a partner at the Milling Benson Woodward Law Firm in New Orleans; community activist Anne Milling of Women of the Storm, also from New Orleans; Sara Roberts, Managing Partner at Dunn, Roberts, & Co. in Lake Charles; Capital One Bank Louisiana State President Rob Stewart of Baton Rouge; and Thomas Turner, Vice Chairman/COO of Turner Industries in Baton Rouge.
