When City of Ridgeland leaders decided they needed a Community Master Plan that would incorporate existing assets and influences with the community’s visions for future growth, they turned to Moore Planning Group, LLC. (MPG). MPG’s planning expertise allowed the City to develop a document leaders and citizens can use to help guide positive growth, catalyze sustainable economic development, and promote quality of life improvements by fulfilling the following needs:

1. Identify the prevailing natural/human/infrastructure/land use/economic development needs of the community to balance growth development with quality of life.
2. Gather ideas, goals, visions, and strategies for positive growth.
3. Establish priorities and schedules for active implementation.
4. Concentrate energy and resources toward accomplishing fair and positive change for all.
5. Identify potential funding opportunities to accomplish the primary objectives. The

City of Ridgeland is … “a place where history meets haute cuisine, where homegrown business success meets hot air balloon glows, and where stunning reservoir sunsets meet memorable shopping excursions…” Those qualities, plus Ridgeland’s unique location, halfway between Memphis and New Orleans, Atlanta and Dallas, inspired MPG to recognize this city’s diverse culture and characteristics as valuable assets. The Master Plan integrates these qualities into infrastructure and economic development that both preserves and enhances this city’s essential character and charm. The Master Plan has been adopted and winning awards. MPG representatives conducted a series of community meetings that allowed citizens and city leaders to:

• Bring together ideas and goals so that every individual has the opportunity to participate in a goalsetting phase that extends from the neighborhood to an international perspective.
• Integrate input with natural and human resources, land use, economy, and infrastructure, to establish opportunities and needs.
• Coordinate work with existing and emerging planning efforts
• Identify available project funding.
• Establish implementation strategies, management programs, and schedules.Ridgeland’s Master Plan is helping this city develop and sustain a Smart Growth economy, and remain “… a wonderful place for family and friends to get together…” for generations to come.
