The Alexandria Urban Master Plan is an updated master plan document that provides a vision and direction for growth for the City of Alexandria, Louisiana. With a comprehensive master plan for this central urban area, the local government can guide growth rather than react to change. The urban master plan is a multi-phased document including the following:

• Urban core land use master plan
• Urban core site element design criteria
• Interstate 49 viewshed analysis and design guidelines
• Implementation strategy

The Alexandria Urban Master Plan provides the City of Alexandria with an immediate and long-term strategic plan for acquisition of implementation funding for projects noted in the plan. Most importantly, the planning process will be a catalyst for stimulating a shared “community vision” for the now highly visible Alexandria urban center. This interactive visioning process yields a creative yet implementable program.
